Memories of Charles Johnson

Created by Ted 4 years ago

i first met Charles in 96 ot 97 when he was a housemaster at Stowe.  I was there to deliver a bundle of artwork by boys at Sunningdale School for the Stowe annual prep schools art exhibition.  Charles and Nessie were very hospitable and i was delighted to meet little baby Millie.  I think we had lunch together in the school dining room.  Charles came up with an idea of bringing a group of Sunningdale boys to Stowe for a painting week and staying in his house, but we never took it any further.  I dont think i saw him again for many years....the last time was at Passchendaele about 2016, when we spent a very pleasant evening together.  We had a good deal in common (except views on Brexit) and i wish i had had the opportunity to know him better.
